Gregory Moore

Biographical Notes

Gregory Moore was born in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1960. He studied linguistics at UC Berkeley, then worked for several years creating a sprawling hypertext database to support the hour-by-hour, continent-by-continent affairs of an eccentric billionaire.

He did his graduate work in music composition at California Institue of the Arts (www.calarts.edu), studying with David Rosenboom, Morton Subotnick and Michael Fink. He has always incorporated language in his music, working with the vocal spectrum in digital editing and processing, and composing musical structures informed by syntax and semantics.

Mr. Moore lives and works at the Maybeck Studio for Performing Arts in Berkeley, California. He occasionally hosts small recitals of his own music, as well as performances by other musicians. Whenever these concerts are scheduled, announcements are posted on this site.
